The breakthrough is the electro hydrogen generator which extracts hydrogen from water by spinning it at high speed. The hydrogen is then mixed with the petrol supply to create an environmentally friendly ‘super fuel’ which ‘stretches’ the unleaded fuel, enabling the car to go further on less. The generator is spun using the engine’s recycled exhaust gases.

I know this concept will probably take 10-15 yrs before it actually goes into production, but hey this may be the solution to the danger associated with having to store large amounts of hydrogen. Cleaner cars, that run on hydrogen and ultra low levels of gas usage, fascinating.

The main differences, its has seats for two passengers, runs solely on lithium-ions battery cells, range 100 miles and takes 4.5 hours to recharge and it only cost $100,000. Ian Wright, a 50-year-old entrepreneur from New Zealand, thinks his electric car, the X1, can soon be made into a small-production roadster that car fanatics and weekend warriors will happily take home for about $100,000 – a quarter ton of batteries included. He has even launched a startup, called Wrightspeed, to custom-make and sell the car.

Ferrari,Porsche, Bugatti look out for the competition, the future is here. Albeit the common race car enthusiast will never be able to own one of these, atleast the weekend warriors with these toys can now contribute to saving our fragile environment and help control CO2 emissions.

The working prototype has been dubbed Transitions and will not be ready for about two years. This caroplane will use super-unleaded gasoline and have a cruising speed of 120 mph.

Toyota has about nine concepts lined up. The PM (Personal Mobility Vehicle) is just one of them. Cutting-edge vehicle-to-vehicle communications technologies are employed under the concept of “meeting, linking and hanging out together”.

Other “spacey” concepts such as the Toyota Space Touch, where the driver “touches” a holographic projection. Then there is the Giugiaro-designed carbon-fiber body which seats three people abreast and features “drive-by-wire” controls, allowing you to position the steering wheel and pedals in front of any one of them and it comes with Volta’s 408-hp Hybrid Synergy Drive® (a 3.3-liter V6 with an electric motor for each axle) not only delivers 435 miles on a 13.7-gallon tank (approx. 31 MPG), 0-60 acceleration in four seconds.

So before you get in this car you better decide who is going to drive, otherwise I can see it getting really messy. So what technology do I see actually making it to from a concept car to a mass manufactured one. The drive-by-wire technology seems promising and so does the fuel cell technology. I am going to sit on the fence when it comes to others like the holographic projection for the time being, lets see what happens.
